ONE Community Hires Chief Advocacy Officer

Michael Soto will lead educational outreach and civic engagement efforts

(Phoenix, AZ) – ONE Community has hired Michael Soto to serve as Chief Advocacy Officer to lead educational outreach and civic engagement efforts. Soto has deep experience and roots in the movement for LGBTQ equality, most recently serving as the CEO of Equality Arizona.

Soto will also co-lead federal efforts on behalf of The Equality and Fairness for All Americans (EFFAAA) coalition.  The bi-partisan coalition was co-founded by ONE Community President, Angela Hughey, and Michael Soto in 2021 to support and promote federal LGBTQ protections in employment, housing, credit, jury service, and public accommodations, while also preserving rights for religious institutions.

“I am deeply honored and privileged to join ONE Community and help to spearhead continued efforts for Equality and Fairness for All Americans,” stressed Soto. “Our work together has been extraordinary and will continue to broaden support across our state and nation to provide immediate relief to millions of Americans and their families,” stressed Soto.

“We are honored to have Michael join us in this critically important role. Together, we have a historic opportunity to advance protections for LGBTQ people and successfully fight back against the hateful attacks we’ve seen in recent years,” said Hughey. “We have a successful history of engaging and educating folks about the value of inclusion and equality measures for all Arizonans and all Americans, and we will undoubtedly be stronger as a team,” she added.
