In this episode of the Better Together Arizona podcast, ONE Community President and Co-Founder, Angela Hughey is joined by CEO of Valle del Sol, Mike Renaud. Mike shares his life and career journey from Boston to Arizona and his extensive background in community health. He talks about the importance of standing up for what’s right and being an actionable ally for diverse communities. 

Under Mike’s leadership, Valle del Sol has signed the ONE Community UNITY Pledge to demonstrate the organization’s commitment to supporting equal projections under the law for everyone, including LGTBQ+ individuals in Arizona. 

Valle del Sol recently celebrated their 50-year anniversary and has evolved from a social justice organization born out of the farm workers’ movement to become a comprehensive community health provider serving all of Arizona. Mike highlights the organization’s mission of addressing both the downstream problems of social determinants of health and the upstream causes of these issues. 

Mike pledges to continue championing inclusion at Valle del Sol because it makes the organization stronger. It fosters better understanding and aligns with the organization’s care for the people they serve.
